The Huntley Hotel in Santa Monica, CA Chatting with a friend while in Santa Monica last week, she noticed that I’d bought a Huntley Hotel Hoodie. I choose to purchase commemorative things to mark huge aha-moments, or things that move me in some way. The Huntley is a pricey hotel in the area – pretty much the priciest. I chose to stay there for the event rather than be inconvenienced by staying at another in the area and it felt GOOD! She told me that she “almost” bought a sweatshirt in Las Vegas, and regretted not getting it. Talking further, the trip was very meaningful for her, and that dang hoody just kind of spoke to her and she talked herself out of it, telling herself she didn’t really NEED it and besides it was $39. $39 and she has regretted it for months now. It has become her story of lack of money in her life. Another friend overheard us talking and said “I have a $39 story too!” She told us of a recent trip to a discount store, which in itself made her feel a little icky at first. As you know, I hosted a virtual training with top soul-inspired entrepreneurs. These are people I admire, sincerely look up to and they have taught me a lot about how to go from being BROKE and defeated to being fulfilled and making money in my business. On some of the calls we had time to have some Q & A and two calls were fully dedicated to giving people business makeovers… The most common thing I saw in people’s challenges with their business is they had a passion but they were confused as to how to get their business in front of people to get clients and customers. To see brilliant people stuck, scared and broke is heart-breaking for me. To blame the economy or how it feels “wrong” to sell or being so used to “just getting by,” I am reminded of my mission. It’s hard to see people forget that they have what it takes to be successful. I also remember what that feels like… I know what it’s like to know you have a big mission and you are not making money and now sure what to do. How To Hire Help When You Can’t Afford It

We’re approaching three full weeks into 2012. Is anything different so far? Remember it’s often the small changes that bring the biggest rewards. This brings me to the point of this week’s article…are you still doing everything yourself yet you want a different outcome this year? I see it all of the time…brilliant people getting burned out and things fall through the cracks because you can’t keep up with it all. You know you need to hire someone, usually it’s a coach and/or a virtual assistant but you have ONE BIG PROBLEM. You don’t know how you will afford it. I have felt like that before. I feel it every time I uplevel or add a support team. And guess what? It’s not about your budget. It’s about a DECISION. “But Angela, I literally don’t have money to pay someone right now. What do I do?” I hear this a lot and this is what you do. Until you have made a decision, there is nothing to worry about. Nothing. Don’t spend a second thinking about how you will pay for something until you have first made the decision that you are going to do it. Now assuming you have made the decision then we can have a conversation about what you can do TODAY to make this happen. Making a decision means you cut off all other possibilities – you don’t have a backup plan or plan B, C, D…. How are you doing with your New Years Resolutions so far? If you are like me then maybe you think resolutions aren’t so hot, but setting realistic goals all the time works better for you. Either way, have you ever set a goal, only to fall short of reaching it? Many times people set goals that are unrealistic. It’s too much change too soon. You would have to be superwomen or superman to reach the goals you set for yourself. HAPPY NEW YEAR! I’m not a big fan of New Year’s resolutions, however it’s a great time to get clear on what you want in the new year. I DO love goal setting though and personally like to break it down into 30-day and 90-day goals. In fact, I created an accountability group with three other friends as we focus on our 90-day health goals. We have shared what actions we are taking to reach our 90-day goal. When we do it, we are treating ourselves to a spa day. If we don’t do it, we all outlined what we will give to each other as a consequence. One of the things I’m adding to my 2012 is more quality family and friend time and during that time being really present with them. Here I am with my mom (on the left) and my sister on New Years Eve. My husband and I hosted a small gathering of a few friends and family to bring in the new year. It was a great time and at the stroke of midnight, I brought out the rice crispy treat birthday cake and we sang Happy Birthday to my hubby whose birthday is January 1st. Folks keep talking about “having a list.” This is referring to your email list and you can create a healthy 6-figure business with an email list less than 1,000 people. (I did!) You don’t need a ton of people, you just need qualified and targeted people. While having a big list is GREAT, but it doesn’t matter how many people you have on it if they aren’t people in your target market who want to hear from you.
