Why “I Need a Website” is often MORE than just a website

“I need a website.” “I need snazzy copy on my site to attract more clients, can you do that? Hmmm…I hear these things a lot and after asking a few questions, people can get overwhelmed by all of the moving parts included in a website. Do you just need a website? First, I’m going to talk about a “website” and how you probably don’t need just a website. Part 2 of this will be why good website copy costs more than $500. 🙂 People come to me thinking they need a website, but they actually require a few other things BEFORE they can get a website created that reflects who they are and that actually works for them. What’s in a website? A website is a marketing tool. Ideally, it’s something that helps you make money in your business. It’s not just slapping up a few pages online with a clipart logo and saying “good enough.” It also doesn’t mean spending $10,000 on a site when you don’t have a paying client yet or know what you are offering in your business. Here are a couple of questions that will guide you to know what you really need so when you get quotes to create a website, you’re getting accurate numbers and have realistic expectations. 1. Do you have a clear and compelling message (you know what you do and who you do it for) Side note on this one – your message is NOT your certification or modality. It’s YOU – your essence, what makes you unique and stand out. If you have a certification that is the...
Big Magic: How to Create From Your Dream List

Big Magic: How to Create From Your Dream List

I will be sharing the stage with Elizabeth Gilbert next month in Seattle at an event called Connect: Transform What Really Matters hosted by Darla LeDoux. My eyes leak a little when I really think about this. I’m delighted, honored, and so excited to share my message about Courage. This book has changed my life. I’ve recommended it to hundreds of people and bought for close to a dozen people. Listening to it is my favorite – it’s just Liz and I doing the dishes or running errands. One of my favorite parts of the book is when she says if you aren’t creating something, you are destroying something. Our creative energy has to go somewhere and what I know is that when I’m not using that energy to create what I desire, I create a whole lotta drama and struggle in my life. When I’m not in the flow of my own life, then I am destroying part of my truth in order to live the lie that I can’t have what I really desire. When I don’t create, I justify my limitations. I have to “think” about things instead of choose IN and move. I stall out. I delay my dreams. And then I judge the hell out of myself for falling into that trap again.  Damn am I grateful I do this far less often as I used to! When I’m not in the flow of my own life, I am destroying part of my truth in order to live the lie that I can’t have what I really desire. I’ve been a little obsessed with...
Another possibility when fear feels real.

Another possibility when fear feels real.

Note: as I channel these messages, incorrect grammar, and run-on sentences are likely to happen. 🙂 Tune into the energy of the message, don’t fixate on how it looks, or the grammar. Tap into the love that is here – all around you. Listen to the message here:   At the time of this message, the president-elect, Donald Trump was just announced. Some of us sit here in shock and disbelief, and some are celebrating. Regardless of who you voted for, or who you wanted the US to vote for, this is a message of creating possibility when so many people are choosing, perpetuating and creating fear. As a channel and intuitive guide, this is the information I’ve been guided to share with you today. How did we get here? We’ve always been here, but we live in a time where nothing can hide anymore. Everything that is out of alignment, that creates division, separation and judgment will show up. It can’t stay hidden. This is not about either of the two main candidates, it’s about revealing truth. And where ever truth is revealed, chaos precedes – the pure energy of creation breaks apart the things that are keeping the dysfunctional systems in place. This is the call for an uprising of creation and choice. What will we choose? What will we create? This is a reflection of the inner workings of our inner secrets, our inner demons, and there is no more hiding. This is our work – to love all parts of us. To see the light through the shadow. To shine the light, to be the...

Dream Live Giveaway

I remember when my friend Priscilla said, “I’m done chasing the dream, so I choose to LIVE it instead.” That was a couple of years ago and I still think about it because it went straight into my heart. I could so relate with that, considering the path of burning down my business in 2012. Why? Because I was chasing a dream..that wasn’t even mine. It’s what I thought I SHOULD want. Check out her giveaway that is only available through this weekend. What does chasing the dream look like? Well, here’s just one of many examples I can share: A few months back, I overheard a conversation where a mother was talking about her son’s path after high school…. “If he would just go to college and get a degree, he could be driving a BMW by the time he’s 30 and living the life.” My heart sank. I know that feeling – living into and up to an expectation that isn’t even true or real. But we think it MIGHT be real, so we hustle – only to be resentful that we followed all of the rules that promised happiness, but we’re not happy, so what the hell??? Yesterday I spent the afternoon at the spa and had a gorgeous dinner with a dear friend. It was a Thursday afternoon and I did it for no other reason that I chose to. As I was driving to the spa, I was overcome with gratitude. Tears. Full heart. Deep honor. I don’t have a million dollar business. Maybe I will some day, maybe I won’t. I haven’t lost...
Our Glorified Hustle

Our Glorified Hustle

Wanna listen to this article? Link to the audio is at the bottom. Can we get real about the glorified hustle? I was living the dream and creating like a bad@$$, until I just couldn’t do it anymore. I’m hearing more and more statements like that. The glorified hustle often starts with, “How can I make money in the next 30 days?” This “cash-injection marketing plan” becomes the drive to keep the momentum going. Thus… the hustle has been initiated. And so does the chasing. The scheming. The figuring out. The working hard. This is the glorified path to burnout. We start out with great intentions, then naturally find ourselves in the “how” to make it all work. But the “how” never leads to freedom, despite our most noble efforts. I wonder if people need to go through the hustle first to realize that they don’t want to build their business that way. Sometimes the wake-up call is a failing marriage, or auto-immune diagnosis (I’m seeing this a lot actually and can personally relate), adrenal fatigue, income roller coasters…or just a simple lack of joy. We even have clever names for the hustle. One I saw recently was “hustle with grace.” Others include: No pain, no gain. You’ve gotta want it bad enough. Work until the edge of burnout, so you know where your edge is. (ironic right?) Work hard now, play hard later. Spend a few years doing what most people won’t do, so you can live the rest of your life the way most people never will. (umm…) The thing is, the hustle becomes the norm, not the exception. We glorify it...
How to Create More in Relationships, Money and Business

How to Create More in Relationships, Money and Business

When I learned this principle of Connection Points vs Creation Points, it blew my world open. One of the things I’ve struggled with since a child, is finding people who wanted to CREATE more. Often times as an adult, I feel alone in my strong drive to move mountains to create new possibilities and paths. Granted, this isn’t the truth, but it’s often how I feel. For people who know me personally, know that I move fast. When I’m clear and I know what I desire, I move really fast in that direction. Where there is a “no,” I find another way. So creating things in this manner, can feel like you’re creating things alone and how much fun is that? If can relate, you may even tell yourself that you’re not the easiest person to be in relationship with or work for. Now that I have this tool, it’s created so much magic and space in my relationships, including my amazing husband Richard and for my team. Thank you to Glenyce Hughes for introducing me to this concept originally. You can find the fabulous Gleynce at www.glenyce.net. Other resources I mentioned: www.AccessConsciousness.com and...
