Where am I hiding?

That’s the question I ask myself frequently when I can see myself getting in my own way.

It’s also a common question I ask my clients when they stop creating and step into the world of tolerating.

Are you creating or tolerating?

I do the same thing. I tell myself that it’s okay if I don’t get exactly what I desire because after all, I have a great life.

What’s so bad about what’s currently happening in my life? I get complacent. I tolerate things. I stop creating. Then I wake up to how boring and painful that is and UP my game.

Usually there is a layer of blame in there somewhere when we stop creating.

Creating confusion is a really convenient way to avoid accountability. When it’s just too big, too scary…somewhere in the process of manifesting, we stop trusting ourselves. So BAM, we unconsciously create confusion. It’s a convenient way to blame something else for not creating.

Where do you hide out from creating your life and business? From creating the money you really desire to be making? To be in the type of relationships that really feel good?

We are light-filled beings with big missions and vision and so of course we are always going to look at how to create MORE. It’s just who we are. We can’t help it.

soulsunday-11-15-15So when we think “who do I think I am for having big dreams?” Or if someone else asks us who we think we are, well HELLO – it’s in your divine nature to desire more so pretending that you are “too much” is the big lie.

When you try to pretend that you aren’t the magnificent trail-blazing change-maker that you are and limit yourself, consider the excuses below could be getting in your way.

When you read the big one for your right now then journal about it like this and see what ah-ha comes up:

What do I love about having a lack of time?
What do I love about using money as an excuse?
What do I love about creating drama and chaos?
What do I love about being confused? What do I love about: _________________.

I did this just yesterday with clients at a group VIP day and it was powerful.

1. Time

I have a client who works full time in a business that she is selling, she is building a new business, she has four kids and she is knocking things out of the park. She shows up. She engages in the program she is in. She knows what she wants and she goes after it. She inspires me daily.

Truthfully, I think of all of my clients who have kids when I start feeling limited by time. If they can do it, I can do it.

Time is the ultimate equalizer. Everyone has 24 hours in a day and you spend your time on what’s important to you.

What’s really important to you? Schedule it in like any other important appointment.

2. Money

“I can’t afford it.”

In total transparency, I talked to my new coach last week because I was getting scared about my investment with her.

I found old patterns of investing and having the investment not work out as well as I would have liked. I got in my own way for a few days and knowing that I was doing this, I talked with her to get back on track.

When you become aware of the money excuse and take accountability for it, you can now create something different.

Money is never the reason we do or don’t do something. If you want it bad enough, it will eventually become a priority and you’ll create it.

3. Getting it all perfect

“I’m going to get it all perfect before I launch this program.”

Have you done this too? Perfection is a great way to keep yourself out of even playing the game. Then we can blame “it’s not good enough yet” to hide our genius and stay stuck.

Done is better than perfect.

4. Afraid of what others will think if you succeed/fail

There is no such thing as fear of success or fear of failure, it’s all fear of being visible. Fear of being judged.

Guess what? People judge you anyway. You judge yourself.

So just do what you really desire and when you become willing to receive judgement, you will be free. Being willing doesn’t mean you’ll receive it, or that it’s true, you actually become that person who doesn’t care what people think and you can create.

5. Other priorities (family, spouse, sick parent, illness)

There are times in life that other things will show up and take over our life. Illness, a sick parent, a spouse getting laid off, etc.

It’s all very real, but the drama and chaos that we usually create with the life situation doesn’t have to be real. That is the part that takes out of creating and into reacting energy.

I’m reading Elizabeth Gilbert’s book Big Magic and she talks about after getting a book contract she had life chaos show up. She moved out of the country and for two years  she let the chaos take over her life.

When she came back to write the book after those two years, she said “The book was gone.”

It wasn’t a computer glitch or anything like that, the heartbeat of the book within her was gone. The window of opportunity had closed and it was time to create something else.

You have the inspired idea and vision NOW. Life will always happen so do something with your vision NOW.

6. You haven’t really chosen it

Have you really chosen the “thing” you desire? Or do you have more of that “I’ll wait and see if this shows up then I’ll allow myself to want it” type of energy?

Are you really committed to thing you desire?

For years I would talk about losing weight and taking care of my health. Everything else was more important. I never actually CHOSE it. I was aware of it, but it was more fun to complain about and judge myself over instead of actually choosing to take on my relationship with my body.

When I really chose it, that is when everything changed. I’ve lost 9.5 pounds in about six months. It’s not a lot of weight AND I have a totally different relationship with food, my body and my confidence.

I chose it. I continue to choose it every day.

7. Confusion

Are you constantly confused? Take a big look at this one of you are. Confusion is a convenient unconscious way to take us out of creating. It’s easier to be confused than it is to be accountable if something doesn’t work out.

If it doesn’t work out, we can always say “I’m confused, I didn’t understand the rules.” And one more time the thing we deeply desire, slips away and we can blame confusion.

8. Drama and Chaos

You probably have a friend or family member who thrives on drama right?

Do you let yourself get sucked up into it as a way to be nice, or to be helpful or to show compassion?

Stop the insanity.

Let other people have their drama and you create your life. When you stop jumping in to save someone from their drama, they actually have space to create something different.

9. Gratitude

I’ve talked about this before and I’ll say it again, over-riding what you desire with gratitude is a great way to keep you from creating your life.

Say what?

Gratitude is awesome. Use it every moment of every day. Please don’t use it to over-ride what you know you are tolerating. I know I’ve used gratitude as a way to be complacent.

Example: Let’s say you have the awareness that your car isn’t in alignment with what you really desire. So you focus on how grateful you are for your current car rather than having gratitude for your current car AND honoring the desire you have for something different.

Have gratitude AND create instead of using gratitude as a way out of creating what you really desire.
